For over 40 years I have resisted coming to Chuuk – not interested in Wreck Diving! I’ve just spent 6 days on Thorfinn with my son from Canada . We had a great time diving “SHIPWRECKS”!! There sure are lots of them… All Different! I’m sure our readers of SPORT DIVING MAGAZINE and DIVE LOG AUSTRALIASIA will get lots of reports, video clips, photos, articles over the next year. For any Australian diver who hasn’t been to Chuuk it has to be on your “BUCKET LIST”!!

It’s with a degree of sadness that I leave the Thorfinn. It’s been a fantastic week of diving, history and tall tales! Thank you to Lance, Jonathan, Kim and the amazing crew that made our week just awesome!!

Truk Lagoon was FANTASTIC. The SS Thorfinn is certainly not a luxury live aboard boat, but rather a comfortable home for the seven days that one is there. It is however, the perfect liveaboard boat for diving. Captain Lance Higgs is a walking history book and an extremely honorable man. His dive operation is an oiled machine and they go out of their way to take you to dives in order not to repeat any. The cook is extremely creative and the local food is really lekker.

It was 2 years in the planning but we finally made it to Truk and the Thorfinn……. And not even Typhoon Francisco could stop us!! A million million thanks to Lance and his fantastic crew for our brief but a “once in A lifetime” experience on board SS THORFINN. World class diving with a fantastic crew – a unforgettable experience, we will be back!!

The Irish Divers

The entire experience far exceeded my already high expectations. The lagoon is simply awesome with its huge variety of dives available. I shall cherish and relive every dive for the rest of my life and Capt Lance’s knowledge on the history of the lagoon is spectacular. I also love being adopted into the Irish fraternity.
